Iran-backed armed groups refuse to disarm and set strict conditions
Powerful Iran-backed armed factions, including Kata'ib Hezbollah, Harakat al-Nujaba, and Kata'ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, have formally refused to surrender their weapons to the central authorities.
These groups have laid down stringent preconditions, demanding that the Peshmerga forces be placed under the command of the Iraqi central army and that Iranian Kurdish opposition groups and the PKK be expelled from their bases in northern Iraq.
Political analysts note that the likelihood of fulfilling these conditions is currently very low, raising concerns over potential security friction and political stalemate [Middle East Research](https://www.iraqinews.com)
